What are Eating Disorders

Eating and body image are major preoccupations in our society and they can easily become obsessions. At any time, 70% of women and 35% of men are on a diet. When does “problem eating behaviour” become an Eating Disorder?

They can be treated

Early diagnosis is important in treating Eating Disorders. With the appropriate treatment, many people can be completely cured.

Effective treatment takes a multidisciplinary approach.

How you can help

You’re not alone: at least 3% of young women between the ages of 12 and 30 suffer from a serious Eating Disorder, and 10% or more suffer from significant distress associated with weight or body image.
